OnAccount — User Guide

Welcome 👋 This guide explains what OnAccount does, the features available to you, and how to turn each one on. It's written for merchants and their staff — no code or developer setup required. Everything here is done from the Shopify admin and the Shopify POS app.

New here? Start with Getting started — it walks you through installing the app, picking a plan, and the one‑time Shopify B2B setup every feature relies on.

What OnAccount does

Shopify's native B2B already provides net terms (payment terms). OnAccount adds the capabilities it doesn't include on its own:

  • Credit limits — set a ceiling, per company and location, on how much can be owed on net terms, and enforce it at the POS and at online checkout.
  • Company payments (also called lump‑sum payments) — collect a single payment toward a company's outstanding balance, allocated across its unpaid orders. Take it at the POS, or let buyers pay themselves from their account.
  • Delegate — let a B2B company manage its own staff, locations, spend limits, and approval workflows from inside the customer account, while you keep the master switches and a store‑wide audit log.

Plans are nested — Payments includes Credit, and Governance includes everything. Pick one on the Plans page; see Getting started.
⚡ = also needs Shopify Plus. Only collecting company payments (POS and customer account) requires Plus — statements and everything else don't.

🤝 Selling at a physical counter too? The B2B POS sister app lets cashiers place on‑account B2B orders at the register, enforcing the credit limits you set in OnAccount. See Integrations.

A few terms used throughout

  • Company / company location — Shopify B2B models a business as a Company with one or more Company Locations. A buyer is a contact assigned to a location.
  • Net terms — a Shopify B2B payment‑terms feature: the customer takes the goods now and pays the balance later. OnAccount counts that unpaid balance against the company's credit limit.
  • Pay in full — the order is paid at the time of sale. It finances nothing and is never blocked by a credit limit.
  • Outstanding balance — how much a company currently owes across its unpaid orders. OnAccount keeps this up to date for you automatically.
  • Credit limit — the ceiling on how much a company (or one of its locations) is allowed to owe at once.
  • Company payment (lump‑sum) — a single payment collected toward a company's outstanding balance and allocated across its unpaid orders.

  2. Before you start — prerequisites
  3. Set it up — step by step
  4. What you / your buyer sees in day‑to‑day use
  5. Troubleshooting — common questions
