Getting started

This page covers the one‑time setup every OnAccount feature relies on: making sure your store is ready for B2B, installing the app, and choosing a plan. Do this once, then turn on individual features from their own guides.

What you need first

1. A Shopify store set up for B2B

OnAccount works with Shopify's native B2B (Companies). Before anything else, make sure you have:

  • A Shopify plan that includes B2B, and
  • At least one Company, with one or more Company Locations, and a contact assigned to a location.

You manage these in Shopify admin → Customers → Companies. If a customer isn't a contact on a company with a location, the B2B features stay turned off for them by design — there's no business account to bill or to apply a credit limit to.

2. Payment terms on your company locations

Credit limits and deposits read each location's payment terms from Shopify B2B. Set them per location so net terms and deposits behave the way you expect:

Shopify admin → Customers → Companies → (company) → (location) → Payment terms.

There you can choose a terms template (for example, Net 30) and an optional deposit percentage. A location set to pay in full finances nothing and is never affected by a credit limit.

Install the app

Install OnAccount from the app listing (or the install link you were given). Installing handles the behind‑the‑scenes setup automatically, but each feature still has to be turned on individually — adding the POS tile, the theme embed, the checkout rule, and the customer‑account page. The onboarding checklist below and each feature guide walk you through those steps.

When asked to approve permissions, accept them — the app only requests what it needs to read companies and orders and to create B2B orders and payments on your behalf. If you're ever asked to re‑approve after an update, that's a normal permissions refresh.

Choose a plan

OnAccount comes in three plans — the same price for every store, no matter your Shopify plan. You pick one on the app's Plans page. Each plan is a superset of the one before it, so a higher plan includes everything below it.

Plan

What it unlocks

Credit

Credit limits — set them per company and location, and enforce them at the POS and at online checkout.

Payments

Everything in Credit, plus company payments (collect a lump sum at the POS or let buyers pay from their account), monthly statements, and the Finance role.

Governance

Everything in Payments, plus Delegate self‑service — companies manage their own staff, spend rules, and approval workflows.

Shopify Plus is separate from your plan. Collecting company payments (lump‑sum + buyer self‑pay) needs a Shopify Plus store; everything else — credit limits, monthly statements, and Delegate — works on any Shopify plan.

  1. Open the app and go to Plans.
  2. Pick a plan and confirm. Billing is handled on a secure Shopify page.
  3. You're returned to the app with the plan active.

Finish the onboarding checklist

The app's home page shows an onboarding checklist that walks you through the remaining steps for the features you want to use. Work through it, then jump to the guide for each feature:
