Installation Guide

MinCart's Home page has a setup guide with the steps below. It checks each step by itself, again when you come back from your theme editor, and marks it Completed. You can dismiss the guide at any time.

Step 1: Turn on the app embed

The app embed is what checks your limits on your storefront.

• On MinCart's Home page, click Turn on in the setup guide. Your theme editor opens on App embeds, with MinCart Main Script turned on.
• Click Save.

The app embed's settings:

1. Quick Load

When enabled, MinCart loads immediately, potentially impacting site performance. When disabled, MinCart waits for the page to fully load, ensuring better website performance but introducing a slight delay in MinCart's activation and potentially allowing some users to bypass set limits.

2. Loading Text

Customize the loading text that appears while MinCart is loading. Can be translated using translate & adapt.

3. Custom Checkout Selector

For a checkout button MinCart doesn't detect by itself, such as one added by a cart drawer app. See Unsupported checkout button.

4. Add-to-cart limits

Check your limits on product pages, before anything is added to the cart, Buy it now included. Off until you turn on Add-to-cart blocking. See Add to Cart Blocking.

Step 2 (optional): Add the message block

With Add-to-cart blocking on, the MinCart limit messages block shows the limits' messages on your product page, before customers add to cart. If you don't add this app block but enable "add-to-cart blocking", the messages appear in a popup when a customer clicks add to cart.

• Click Add to product page in the setup guide. The theme editor opens on your product template with the block added.
• Move it near the add to cart button, then click Save.

If you don't want it, click Skip. See Add to Cart Blocking.

Step 3: Create your first limit

Choose what to limit (the whole cart, products, collections and more) and the minimum or maximum to respect. Save it as a draft to test it on your own cart (see Preview Mode), then set it to Live.

Checkout security

Make a limit strict and MinCart registers it as a Shopify checkout rule: the rule runs on Shopify's servers during checkout, so Buy it now, express checkouts, cart links and bots can't get around it. There's nothing to set up in Shopify: turn on Enforce with a Shopify checkout rule in the limit's Strict limit section. See Strict Limits.

MinCart's older checkout options are no longer setup steps: Checkout validation is legacy, a small extra safety net for limits that aren't strict, and the Checkout extension is deprecated. MinCart's Home page lists them in its App extensions box. See Checkout Security.

Dynamic checkout buttons

"Buy it now" and the other dynamic checkout buttons skip the cart, where MinCart checks your limits. Strict limits still block them at checkout. For limits that aren't strict, either turn on Add-to-cart blocking in the app embed, and MinCart checks them on the product page, or turn the buttons off. See Unsupported Dynamic Checkout Buttons.
