Installation Guide

After completing steps 2, 3, and 4, you won’t see a checkmark due to a limitation in Shopify that prevents us from marking these as complete, even if they are done correctly. Once you finish each step, click on the next one. After completing all the steps, create a limit to verify that everything is working as expected.

Step 1: Enable Theme app extension, click on the go to theme settings under step 1.

  • Enable MinCart in your theme settings to activate the application. Don't forget to save.

Additional Options:

  1. Quick Load

When enabled, MinCart loads immediately, potentially impacting site performance. When disabled, MinCart waits for the page to fully load, ensuring better website performance but introducing a slight delay in MinCart's activation and potentially allowing some users to bypass set limits.

  1. Loading Text

Customize the loading text that appears while MinCart is loading. Can be translated using translate & adapt.

Step 2: Disable Dynamic Checkout Buttons

To ensure MinCart functions properly, it's important to disable the dynamic checkout buttons. Depending on your theme, the location of this option may vary. Below, we outline the two most common places to find and disable these buttons:

  • Navigate to Sales Channels > Online Store.

  • Select Customize for your active theme.

  • In the theme editor, click on the arrow beside Homepage for a drop down menu, select Products, select Default Product

  • On the Product page theme editor, find the section Template, within Template you will see Product Information this section will have a Buy Buttons option.
  • Click on the Buy Buttons section to open up the features. Uncheck Show dynamic checkout buttons
  • Click Save

Note - Dynamic checkout buttons are available on all current versions of the themes in the Shopify Theme Store. If you're using an older version of a theme, then you need to update your theme or edit your theme code to add dynamic checkout buttons.

Step 3: Checkout Extensions vs. Checkout Validation for MinCart Integration

MinCart offers two robust options for integrating with your checkout process: Checkout Extensions and Checkout Validation. Each option serves different purposes and comes with specific requirements. Here’s a breakdown of their differences:

  1. Checkout Validation - All Shopify Plans
  • A highly powerful alternative to Checkout Extensions.
  • The only method that fully supports limitation settings using tags.
  • If you're using tags in your limitations, Checkout Validation is essential for ensuring limits function as expected, as tag-based limits do not work correctly with Checkout Extensions.

  1. Checkout Extensions - Shopify Plus Only
  • Available only for Shopify Plus merchants.
  • Integrated into the checkout process through App Blocks.

Checkout Validation

Checkout validation is available for all shopify plans and MinCart plans.

To Enable Checkout Validation

  • Go to Shopify Settings

  • Click on the Checkout option

  • Scroll down to Checkout Rules
  • Click Add Rule

  • Select MinCart Checkout validation

  • Click on Save

  • Click Turn on

Checkout Extensions

Checkout Extension for MinCart is only available for Shopify Plus stores that are using the Gatekeeper plan of MinCart.

Due to some shopify limitations, limits using customer tags are not compatible with the checkout extension. The checkout validation is suggested in this case.

Benefits

  1. Checkout: Runs natively during the checkout process.
  2. Sales Channels: Works with dynamic checkout buttons, headless Shopify stores, and all sales channels that use Shopify's checkout.
  3. Shop App: Can run within Shop Pay.
  4. Activation Rules: Use Activation Rules to activate limits based on information entered by the customer in the checkout steps.

How to Enable Checkout Extensions

  1. Click on Shopify Settings
  2. Click on Checkout
  3. Click on Customize next to your checkout profile.

If you are using the ONE PAGE CHECKOUT, you should add the block only ONCE under the Payment setting, select Payment and check the option Include app block in Shop Pay.

If you have the 3 PAGE CHECKOUT, you need to add the block for each step Contact, Delivery and Payment and then in the dropdown select the corresponding Checkout step.

Contact = Information // Delivery = Shipping // Payment = Payment

Step 5: Create your first limit

Create your first limit to restrict your customers based on the rules you define.

  • Verify MinCart has been installed correctly by testing your new limit.
