Customers must buy in multiples
How to Set Up a Limit for Purchasing Products in Multiples
This guide will walk you through the steps to create a limit that ensures customers purchase a product in specific multiples. For instance, you may want customers to buy sample packs in denominations such as 5, 10, 15, or 20 to align with your inventory management strategy.
Steps to Create a Multiple Purchase Limit
Create a New Limit
Limit Type: Select Product.
Limit Name: Assign a unique and descriptive name to the limit so you can easily identify its purpose later. For this example, we’ll use "Multiples".
Set Activation Details
Activation Dates: Leave the default settings to start the limit today. You can adjust the date range if needed for future or temporary campaigns.
Active: Ensure this box is checked so the limit is live.
Define Your Audience
Audience Type: Set to Everyone if the rule applies to all customers. If you want to target specific groups, such as wholesale customers, adjust this setting accordingly.
Tags Exclusion: Leave blank unless you need to exclude certain customer groups or products based on tags.
Target the Right Products
Items to Target: Select the product(s) you want this rule to apply to.
Set the Multiple Purchase Rule
Set Limits: Choose By Quantity.
Multiple of Product Quantity: Enter the multiple value (e.g., 5) that customers must adhere to when purchasing.
Customize the Error Message (Optional)
Text for multiple not respected: Adjust the message that appears if a customer doesn’t meet the multiple requirement. For example, you might use:
"Please select a quantity that is a multiple of 5, such as 10 or 15."
Save the Limit
Once all fields are completed, click Save to activate your new limit.
Example Use Case
Imagine you sell a sample pack of snacks, and you’ve configured your inventory to handle orders in multiples of 5. By setting this limit, customers can only check out if they purchase quantities like 5, 10, 15, or 20. This ensures smoother inventory management and aligns customer purchases with your operational goals.
Tips for Optimizing Limits
Testing: After setting the limit, test it in your store to ensure it works as intended.
Communicate Clearly: Use the custom error message to explain the rule to customers in simple terms, minimizing confusion.
Adjust as Needed: If your inventory or audience changes, you can easily edit the limit settings at any time.
By following these steps, you can efficiently implement a rule for purchasing in multiples, ensuring better inventory control and a seamless customer experience.
