The limit will only be active if all the specified conditions are met. These rules can be combined using "AND" or "OR" logic to provide highly customizable limitations based on various conditions. If you are using Shopify Plus, you will have access to **additional rule types** that are derived from the checkout extensions. ![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/4dd3899948d8e000/monosnap-molsoft-shawn-dev-sto_1p029p2.png) --- ## Overview Each rule has three key parts: - **Type:** Defines the kind of rule | **STANDARD SHOPIFY PLANS** | SHOPIFY PLUS ONLY | | ---- | | Limit | Market | | Date | Shipping Country Co, City, Province Code, Zip, Address, Address2, Company, Type, Method Title, Cost, Cost After Discount, | | Customer Tag | Payment Type, Gift Card Amount | | Currency | Discount Code | | Plus includes both standard limitations and exclusive Plus limitations. **Condition:** Sets the criteria that must be met. - Select Limit - Is Equal To - Is Not Equal To - Contains - Does Not Contain - Starts With - Is Greater Than - Is Less Than **Value:** Specifies the parameter against which the condition is tested. - Is Respected / Is Not Respected - Date Field - Open Field - Currencies - Market - Shipping Type - Payment Type | The limit will only be active if the calculated result of all the rules is TRUE. # Basic Limit Types ## Limit The **Limit Type** rule is one of the most powerful rules in the Quantity Limit App. It allows you to create limits that activate based on other items in the cart, through another limit: "limit X is respected" or "is not respected". | Condition | Value | | ---- | | Is Respected | Select another limit from your existing limits | | Is Not Respected | | ||| The limit you reference does not have to block carts itself. A common setup is a limit with **Enforce on the storefront** turned off, used only as the condition of another limit — it is evaluated but never blocks a cart on its own. The list shows such limits as **Not enforced**. ||| A **Draft** limit doesn't exist for your customers, so a Live limit's rule that references it is ignored until the draft goes Live; without other activation rules, the Live limit is always active. The editor asks you to confirm before saving a Live limit like that. To test limits that depend on each other, keep both as drafts and preview them together with **Preview Mode** (see the article). --- ## Customer Tag Customer tags can be used to target specific segments of your customer base. | Conditions | Value | | ---- | | Is Equal To | Enter a customer tag | | Is Not Equal To | | | Contains | | | Does Not Contain | | | Starts With | | --- ## Date Date rules can be used to make a limit active during a specific period. By combining "AND" or "OR" logic you can make the limit active for multiple period. | Conditions | Value | | ---- | | Is Greater Than | Select a date using the date picker | | Is Less Than | | --- ## Currency Limitations can be applied based on the currency being used. | Conditions | Value | | ---- | | Is Equal To | Select a currency code | Is Not Equal To | --- # Shopify Plus Only Rules ## Market This rule type can be used to target specific Shopify markets. The market rule can work on standard Shopify store on the storefront of the website, but the market can also change in the checkout steps.
